Since 1989, we've served hundreds of international patients; however, we've been dedicated to caring for families for nearly 100 years.
What is the role of the International Patient Services department in my child's care?
At Cook Children's, you are a part of our family. Our International Patient Services team is here to provide you with the best experience possible. An International Care Coordinator will be assigned to your family and will serve as your main contact for your family's needs. From flight scheduling to accommodations to recreation, our staff will help with all the details so you can focus on your child.
Who is going to treat my child?
Your child will be treated by an expert team that includes board-certified, pediatric-trained physicians and specialists. Because Cook Children's is not a teaching hospital, you will have consistent health care providers throughout your child's stay.
Where is Cook Children's?
Cook Children's is located in Fort Worth, Texas. Just minutes away from the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (and the Dallas Cowboys), Fort Worth is the 17th largest U.S. city.
For parents: how do I get started?
Contact your physician for a referral. Email your child's evaluation and translated medical records to email@example.com. Our team of physicians will review your child's case and determine a personalized plan of care.
For doctors: how do I refer a patient?
I do not speak English, will you provide interpretation?
Yes, a professional staff translator will be available to you during each appointment.
Can you assist with visas and travel?
Yes, Cook Children's Concierge Services can help patient families save time and money with various services, including travel. Your intake navigator will provide you with resources for obtaining a visa.
What information do I need to bring with me for our visit?
It is important to bring:
- Your child's complete medical history
- A letter from your child's physician
- All results from tests and pathology reports
- A list of prescriptions, including the dosages
- Contact information for all of your child's doctors
- Family medical history
What options are available for payment?
We have partnered with Flywire to provide an easy and secure way of paying your bills in your country's local currency.
Where do I stay during my visit?
Cook Children's provides a list of hotel suggestions for your convenience. You can book directly via the hotel website. Be sure to contact International Patient Services for your special discount code.
What will happen once I return home?
There are times when families and doctors need to consult with experts at Cook Children's following treatment. Telemedicine and telehealth can connect you, your child and your doctor to the health care team at Cook Children's through video conferencing.
Where do I go for my child's first appointment?
Cook Children's Medical Center is located at 801 7th Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76104. Your International Patient Services Intake Navigator will meet you at the main entrance and give you a tour of the facility.
What do I need to know about my child's appointment?
Your International Care Coordinator will contact you prior to your child's appointment to give you all the details.
Where I can park my rental car?
If your child is inpatient, you will receive free parking at the 7th Avenue Garage or may valet at the main entrance for $5.
If your child is outpatient, you will receive complimentary valet parking at the entrance located on Cooper Street or you can pay to park at the 7th Avenue Garage.
Where is the pharmacy?
The pharmacy is located on the first floor of Cook Children's Medical Center, next to the Emergency Department.
Where can I get my child's medical records?
You can request a copy of your child's medical records from Cook Children's Release of Information Department in the main medical center building. Call 01-682-885-1012 for more information.
Can someone meet me at the airport?
Contact International Patient Services to arrange for a Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport meet-and-greet service and ground transportation.
